Laura joins Jim Phillips, Rob Carroll and Paul Deas who have all who have completed there first full marathon’s during 2014.

With many members completing there first 5k, 10k, and half marathons during 2014 it looks as if many of the ‘Tony Challenges ‘ will have been successfully completed by the time of the Christmas party !!

2014/15 Cross Country Season under way (updated)

The results have now been posted with The Troon Ladies team finishing a very respectable 5th place from 12 other clubs, the men’s team finished 17th from an entry of 20 running clubs, individual times are on the results main page.

Saturday 18th October saw the start of the 2014 cross country season under un-seasonal blue skies at Irvine Beach Park.

Troon Tortoises were represented by a male and female team with plenty of Tortoise support in attendance on the day, with the new club tent also making its first appearance providing changing and kit facilities.

The male team was represented by Fraser Mcphail, Graeme Mckenzie, Darrell Dunscombe & Ian Mcnee,

The ladies team runners were Ann Noble, Moira Connell & Caroline Mutch.

Although the route was only just over two miles the up’s and down on the grass banks, plus running on sand gave a real tough work out , which could be seen on the face of every finisher taking part on the day !

Keep an eye on the website forum pages for dates of the next races and details of how to be part of Team Tortoise.

High Visability Clothing

All runners need now to come to club nights  wearing some form of high visibility clothing, it is now dark by the time we leave the hall so this is an important part of your kit for each club night.

High visibility vests are available to purchase each club night and there are a small number available to loan should you forget your piece of kit on an evening.

This coming weekend see’s the club runners out in force with many members running in Glasgow in both the half marathon and 10k distances, for many its the end of some hard training over the last few months, so good luck to all who are running and don’t forget to post your time on the forum page or give to me on the next training night.

Meanwhile three Tortoises are crossing the border to run marathon distances, Matt Pearce makes the long journey to run The Bournemouth Marathon on Sunday with Jim Phillips and Graeme Mckenzie heading to Northumberland to run the Kielder Marathon on the same day.
